Mastermind pushes pause on Sma and Khumbulani’s plans.

Love is in the air for hairdresser Smangele (Sihle Ndaba) and she can’t think of any reason not to like the newcomer to town Khumbulani (Sihle Xaba). His charm and chivalry are exactly what she needs, compared to the shady guys that Sma has dated in the past. He surprises her Thursday 26 October when he throws her a farewell party – he’s planning to start off fresh with her in another town and Sihle Ndaba [the only one of the two Sihles that we spoke to] says that “the party goes according to plan and it’s everything that Sma wanted”. But it doesn’t last and the next day, on Friday 27 October, Khumbulani overhears that Sma went mentally insane, faked her pregnancy and stole a baby in April 2017. “It’s a complete 180 for him. Although he loves her, it’s hard to overlook the fact that the person you are crazy about was once crazy. He takes a bit of a step back and rethinks the future with her.”
THREE’S A CROWD
Not everyone is on the same page with Sma getting whisked away by love and her overprotective brother Mastermind (Ntokozo Dlamini) tries to stop her on Monday 30 October. He’s unimpressed to learn that Sma is with Khumbulani and Sihle says that “Mastermind thinks that Sma is too good for Khumbulani. It’s always been Sma and Mastermind against the world and he will do anything to save his sister from getting her heart broken.” Khumbulani tries to make this clear to Sma that she needs to clear the air with Mastermind, but the siblings aren’t in a peaceful mood.
CHANGED MAN
Khumbulani realises he loves Sma no matter what happened in the past and on Tuesday 31 October, “He stuns her with a gesture of love,” says Sihle. “Khumbulani calls into a radio station to dedicate a love song to her. She feels like the luckiest girl.” But on Monday 6 November, Sma witnesses another side to her beau when she finds him sobbing in church. “She tries to talk to him about it but he denies that anything is wrong when it’s clear that something is,” says Sihle. “Sma has a feeling that Khumbulani is hiding something from her and she doesn’t need another surprise that will send her mind on a spin as they’re preparing to leave town,” warns Sihle.
