“Let’s say that they [Tony and Layla] have history,” laughs Tom Fairfoot. The 49-year- old British-born actor plays businessman Tony, who showed up on Tuesday 24 October. “He’s arrogant and self-assured. He is one of those rich corporate types who thinks that everyone will bow and courtesy to him.” But it’s not that easy with Layla (Natasha Sutherland). She won’t take orders “from some guy who thinks that she owes him”.

ROLLERCOASTER RIDE

Backed into a corner, scheming Layla turns to Damon (Craig Urbani) for help on Wednesday 25 October. “Wesley (Zane Meas) is the guy in her life but Tony is lurking in the shadows,” says Tom. Layla tells Damon who Tony is to her and she’s going to have to think on her feet on Friday 27 October when Wesley spots “his woman” with Tony. She lies through her teeth and Wesley buys into Layla’s “we’re friends having coffee” story. But on Monday 30 October, Wesley’s daughter Ingrid (Stephanie Sandows) spots Layla and she is left with more questions than answers about Layla’s “new” friend.

MEN AT WAR

Wesley is conflicted about his girlfriend on Wednesday 1 November and he isn’t alone. Ingrid tells Layla’s son Quinton (Brighton Ngoma) that their parents aren’t dating any longer on Friday 3 November and he hits the roof when he finds out why. “He knows of Layla and Tony’s past and he doesn’t approve,” says Tom. “Tony isn’t a nice guy – he is a bastard.” And that’s something Quinton isn’t willing to see his mom deal with when he confronts Tony on Monday 6 November. “It’s going to be messy,” laughs Tom. “But there’s more to the story than Tony is telling Layla.”
