Having shacked up with “the love of her life” Kop (Setlhabi Taunyane), Blossom (Slindile Nodangala) wants to firmly tick off that “committed relationship” box on her todo list. Usually she hides her feelings and goes about life as if everything is fine, but it’s different on Wednesday 25 October after she realises that her dream of being the next Mrs Khuse will probably never come true.
“Blossom and Kop have admitted their feelings for each other, but they aren’t in a romantic relationship,” says Slindile. “That scares Blossom because she thinks that Kop will never make a serious commitment to her.” While Blossom feels more like a roommate than Kop’s lover, she tries to voice her frustrations on Thursday 26 October but “due to her nature, she doesn’t tell him straight- out how she really feels. Kop gets the wrong side of the stick and Blossom gets even more irritated.”
SMELL THE ROSES
Unlike the women that Kop is used to, Blossom wears her heart on her sleeve and she walks around sulking on Friday 27 October. Her friend Fats (Mpho Molepo) picks up on this right away and offers to help, “But he also gets the wrong impression,” laughs Slindile. “Blossom opens up to Fats like she can’t with Kop and she tells him everything that’s happening with Kop but Fats thinks that she’s got a crush on him.” And the misunderstanding gets worse on Wednesday 1 November when Blossom “communicates badly with Fats,” explains the actress. “She is horrible at explaining matters of the heart!”
TERROR & DISORDER
Unaware of the confusion with Fats, Blossom asks him for more help with Kop on Monday 6 November. “Blossom needs all the help she can get and she wants Kop to man-up with her,” says Slindile. “But Fats doesn’t know what to do. Kop meanwhile behaves like a typical guy who misses the point completely, adding to her frustrations.”
There’s a sigh of relief later that day when Blossom’s message gets through to Fats and he realises that it really is about Blossom and Kop – and she’s asking for his advice because he knows Kop better than anyone else. “Fats was close to Kop’s wife Mamokete (Connie Chiume), who passed away in April 2016,” says Slindile, adding that her character “might be an introvert, but she is still a strong matriarch. She knows what she wants, now she just needs to figure out how to get Kop.”
