There’s never a dull moment in the life of Turfloop’s most infamous mistress Charity (Makgofe Moagi). She’s trying to patch up what’s left of her life and move on without her married ex-boyfriend John (Africa Tsoai) on Wednesday 25 October, but there’s another distraction. “There is someone stalking her,” says Makgofe. Wherever Charity goes, she feels this person looking over her shoulder. And what’s worse is that she can’t tell anyone because she is public enemy number at her speech therapy job and her family have cut ties with her for having an affair that made headlines in the community newspaper in August 2017. “Charity is all alone in a big world. She keeps to herself as she doesn’t want to cause more damage to her loved ones, but this person is really harassing her and makes her life miserable,” adds the actress.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Charity’s mystery stalker is closer to her than ever on Wednesday 25 October and that’s when things take a nasty turn. “She is punched in the face – it comes from nowhere and she’s surprised as she’s sitting at her front desk at the hospital. It’s all a blur from there,” says Makgofe. Charity later wakes up in the ICU, not remembering how she got there. “This stalker was sent by someone to ruin Charity’s life. Everyone wants her to end her romance with John and this seems like a message telling her to stop contacting him for good,” explains Makgofe. The only thing on Charity’s mind is confronting her attacker and finding out who did this to her. And while she’s still lying in her hospital bed, there are two people at the top of her list: her shady ex-boyfriend Marothi (Macks Papo), who has stalked her in the past and John’s angry wife Meikie (Harriet Manamela), who has sworn revenge on Charity after finding out about the affair in July 2017. “It could be anyone but for now, she has these two in her crosshairs. There are consequences to everything we do in life and this is Charity’s lesson to see the trouble that you can get into when you get involved in messy marital situations,” adds Makgofe.

I’M ONTO YOU

Unlike most people who run from their attackers and remain skittish for some time, Charity is on the hunt for her assailant on Friday 27 October. She does her own research and asks around the hospital and town. Knowing a lot of people in different worlds results in some good luck and she thinks that she’s narrowing down her search that same day. “Charity doesn’t want this person get away with what they did to her,” says Makgofe. At the same time, she isn’t involving her family – her son Katlego (Patrick Seleka) and mom Koko Mantsha (Lydia Mokgokoloshi). “Charity has made life difficult for them already. Kat almost lost his friends because they think his mom is shady and Koko Mantsha is a laughing stock in Turf, so it feels like not getting them involved in this will spare them the trouble that is constantly following Charity around,” explains Makgofe.

LAW & ORDER

Charity is tossing and turning in her sleep on Monday 30 October as she dreams about exposing her attacker. She meets with Captain Malebana (Arthur Molepo) and gives him new information to work with. “Charity is mentally damaged. She’s always had trouble following her, but this has flipped her world around and she finds herself missing John even more,” says Makgofe. Charity secretly meets with John after promising Koko Mantsha that she’d never go back to him, but Makgofe explains that “Charity uses the attack as a way to sneak back into his life. She’s been trying to move on but this attack has thrown her off the rail searching for trouble again.”
