Getty begins her fight against the ghost of Bra Pops.

For months Getty (Andisiwe Dweba) practiced to become a traditional healer, only to renounce her spiritual calling in early March. She’s back to being a graphic designer at marketing company #hashtag World and she feels “normal” again. That’s until she sees a ghost of her old loan-shark Bra Pops (Thulane Kubheka) on Monday 2 April. “He’s haunting her everywhere she goes,” says Andisiwe. Getty’s sister Lucy (Manaka Ranaka) stabbed him to death in June 2015 when he tried to assault her for not repaying her debt. Getty sees this as a sign to go back to being a sangoma, explains Andisiwe. “She seeks guidance from her sangoma instructor Gobela (Hlengiwe Lushaba). She tells Getty to go back to healing and to make amends with the death of Bra Pops, whether she likes it or not,” adds the actress.
GUILTY CONSCIOUS
Unlike in 2015 when Bra Pops bled to death in her apartment, Getty doesn’t drink to help her forget about him. “She calms herself with relaxing exercises that she learnt from Gobela and soon after, he fades away,” reveals Andisiwe. His spirit resurfaces again at her office on Wednesday 4 April and concerned about her jumpy behaviour, Getty’s boss Tau (Rapulana Seiphemo) questions her but she lies by saying that “she’s okay”. Her working environment is full of pressure, but she still manages to keep her personal life private as she doesn’t want to seem incapable. With the ghost appearing more frequently, she runs to Lucy to help her get Bra Pops off her back.
PAYING DUES
“Lucy and Getty are in this together. His death is on both of their hands,” warns Andisiwe. After consulting with Gobela on Thursday 12 April, Getty will relax when Bra Pops’s ghost leaves. But it doesn’t end there as they have to get in touch with his family in order to officially lay his soul to rest. “They have to right their wrongs or he won’t go away. It’s a hard road to go back to, but they have to open the door, even if this plan fails,” reveals the actress.
