Will Smith is best known as The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air (1990-1996) and alienhunting Agent J in sci-fi franchise Men In Black (1997-2012), but he’s dabbling in narration these days. He’s the guiding voice on doccie series One Strange Rock (2018-current) and was the only man for the job, explains exec producer Darren Aronofsky (who directed 2010 Academy Award-winning drama film Black Swan): “Will’s charisma, intelligence and humanity will welcome viewers to this mindblowing narrative about Earth”.
1 Darren isn’t joking about Will being brainy. The 49-year-old was accepted to the famous Massachusetts Institute Of Technology but says that “I had no intention of college”.
2 Will’s school administrator mother Caroline and late engineer father Willard Carroll Smith Sr jokingly “accepted” that their son’s career choice was the right one in 2014 when Will’s net worth was $250 million (R2.9 billion).
3 He’s fluent in Spanish and silenced online haters in February this year after they challenged Will to sing the 1958 Mexican folk song La Bamba.
4 Will loves WWE wrestling but his main game is basketball. In 2016, he and second wife Jada Pinkett-Smith paid an undisclosed fee to buy a stake in the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team.
5 Despite Will being a Baptist, he let his kids with Jada – son Jaden (19) and daughter Willow (17) – grow up as Scientologists. His eldest son Trey (25) from first wife Sheree Zampino prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
