The only people who should sass the police are cops themselves and in action show Chicago PD (2014-current), the job falls to sarcastic Desk Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton). “She gives attitude and pushes everyone to be their best because she can – she has passed her detective exam twice, so she can be the bossy mom-figure,” laughs Amy, who adds that her younger co-stars “are like my children”.

to stage sound engineer Rob Milburn for almost 20 years and because of work, Amy admits that they just never got around to having children.

tunities – between 1999 and 2009, the pair worked side-by-side on stage plays while Amy put her film and TV career on hold “to refresh myself”.

Being on the show means a lot to 3

Amy because she is Chicago born and bred and claims that she will die in the city too. But she didn’t actually join Chicago PD first – she played Trudy on Chicago Fire (2012-current), the original show in the Chicago franchise.

She isn’t the only Amy Morton in 4

Chicago though – there’s a famed restaurateur of the same name but Amy claims they’ll never be confused since she isn’t a kitchen fan, revealing that her go-to dish is “jello”.

Amy is honest about what she 5

loves and hates about work: “The uniforms aren’t always comfortable but Trudy and I are a lot alike, so getting into character is easy – I get dressed.”

While fans won’t find her on 6

social media, they will be able to catch Amy on stage. She’s been a core member of the Steppenwolf Theater Company since 1997 and says that the stage is her greatest love. Sorry, Rob.
