Play time is over in season 2 of wildwest sci-fi Westworld (2016- current). At the end of season 1 (December 2016), the human-like robots known as “hosts” broke free from their behavioural computer codes and became self-aware, unleashing a kill-all-humans robo-revolution against their zookeepers: Delos Incorporated, who created the world of Westworld for rich thrillseekers. “Season 2 is
a search for what else is in the park and what else is beyond the park,” teases showrunner Jonathan Nolan. One thing that will definitely be explored is the other worlds in the park, like Shogun World (a Japanese Samurai-themed area), also known as “Park 2”.
James Marsden will be returning as Teddy Flood, riding in on his horse as he looks to set things straight as the wannabe-new sheriff in town. But he isn’t the only surprise this
time round, hints Jonathan. “There is a seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visits come at the park’s darkest hour, which is going to ruffle a number of feathers both in the make-believe world and the real, outside world.” And we’re going to be introduced to the drone hosts: creepy white robots (similar to the ones in the intro sequences) that are way less humanoid than the hosts. “They know the secret plan of Dalos,” warns Jonathan.
