Little girl lost

For Xolile, the threat of losing Mthunzi’s her father all over again. love is like losing

-

If you’re shaking your head over Xolile Langa’s (Sivenathi Mabuya) decision on Monday 5 November and what happens between her and her on-off fiancé Mthunzi (Bongile Mantsai) on Wednesday 7 November, you aren’t even her biggest critic. “Her younger self would be looking at her right now going, ‘Wow! Xolile! Just… wow,’” admits Sivenathi. But ever since Xolile found out about her dad Siseko’s (Hlomla Dandala) murder on Thursday 16 August, she has been running blindly from the truth – right into Mthunzi’s arms.

DADDY’S GIRL

“When she lost her father, she lost a man who meant a lot to her. That void was filled by Mthunzi. Being so attached to him helps her to get away from the situation of having to deal with her father’s death and also distracts her mind and her feelings,” explains Sivenathi. “She doesn’t have the opportunity to sit down and grieve properly. It has a lot to do with her making such rash decisions and being in such a hurry with everything.”

SPOTLIGHT OFF

Mthunzi has been using that sense of loss to manipulate Xolile by deliberately freezing her out ever since she asked him to sign a pre-nup on Friday 26 October – under the guise of giving her space to deal with her issues. Not only has he been spending less time with her, he has been rubbing her face in it by turning all that attention he once paid her to the other woman in her family. Aside from constantly flirting with Yvonne (Kgomotso Christopher), he even kissed kissing Xolile’s mom Boniswa (Lusanda Mbane) on Wednesday 31 October. “The ‘space’ he allows her forces her to deal with the reality of her family completely shifting from being happy to being lifeless. A lot of things come tumbling down as soon as Mthunzi is out of the picture,” says the actress.

SAVE THE DATE

And as Xolile can feel her original Monday 19 November wedding date crawling closer, her mental chaos will increase. “She starts to panic,” admits Sivenathi. “It’s a very stressful time for her. We see her trying her best not to accept that the wedding might possibly not happen. She is completely in denial and trying her best to pretend.”
