“I didn’t kill the princess”
Goitseone is on the run when the royal house blames him for murdering his girlfriend Princess Mosetsana.
From invasive background checks to always being referred to as “that commoner”, marrying a royal is a lot harder than Goitseone (Mpho Sebeng) had hoped since a crown princess like Mosetsana (Tshegofatso Seakgoe) must be single to take the throne. Even their plan to elope on Wednesday 24 October fell apart for the childhood lovers when Mosetsana didn’t arrive at their rendezvous point. Goitseone and the royal family had a stressful wait until Monday 5 November when they’re told that Mosetsana is dead. “Goitseone rushes to the royal palace to find Queen Mosadi (Monnye Kunupi) weeping over her daughter’s body. That scene will haunt him forever,” admits Mpho. Goitseone’s shock quickly turns to terror when he becomes the prime murder suspect. Why is Goitseone a suspect? The queen’s sister Odirile (Tsholo Matshaba) planted evidence implicating him.
He was also the last person that Mosetsana was seen speaking to. It’s simple to connect those dots. Besides being upset about losing his girlfriend, what else is going through his head? He goes on the run. He’s scared and he doesn’t know where to hide. He knows that he is innocent, but the evidence against him is that good. The queen wants him to pay and she orders the police to find him – they shoot him before he can escape and throw him in prison [on Thursday 8 November]. Does he have anyone who believes that
he’s innocent? Thankfully yes – his sister Mapula (Didintle Khunou). She knows in her heart that her brother isn’t capable of murder, let alone killing the woman he loves. She goes into full investigator mode and while she doesn’t find the real killer, she finds enough evidence to have him released [on Monday 19 November].
What’s left for him now? It’s going to be tough. His dreams are gone. His lover is gone. He is being blamed and while the pain will linger, Odirile will pay.
