Those familiar faces

Five new arrivals promise sheer drama in Salem.

-

It seems like an old favourite or a new face is arriving in Salem for every character who’s getting killed off. And everyone has an agenda… JOEY JOHNSON

Joey (James Lastovic) appeared all grown up on Wednesday 24 October. Hilariously, the casting ad for this role read: “16-year- old gorgeous Caucasian male who struggles with resentment and abandonment issues.” Expect a chip off the old Patch. “Joey will be giving rebel Patch (Stephen Nichols) a little of his own medicine!” says executive producer Ken Corday. What he really wants is for Mom and Dad to get back together.

GABI HERNANDEZ

Convicted murderer Gabi (Camila Banus) gets her lucky break on Tuesday 13 November. “Gabi is out [released], appreciating her family, her brother and her child, her friends and freedom. But she comes out different. There’s something Gabi doesn’t know is inside of her, the trauma of living in that type of establishment, with those types of people,” warns Camila.

EDUARDO HERNANDEZ

Gabi’s biological father Eduardo (A Martinez, Cruz Castill in Santa Barbara, 1984-1993) rocks up on Wednesday 14 November but not to welcome her home – he’s in town to mourn the murder of his other biological daughter by the Necktie Killer. His explosive reunion with her mom promises fireworks too. “There has been an unspeakably cruel past that has been ruined courtesy of my character. His true agenda and nature are fairly hidden,” says A with a grin.

ANDRE DIMERA

In 2010, Andre (Thaao Phenglis) unplugged his own life support to frame someone for his murder! So he’s got a fair amount of explaining to do when he returns on Tuesday 20 November alive and well. “It turns out that Andre is Stefano’s son [rather than his nephew]. In the old world, the children always take care of the ageing parents. And he is very unhappy with the way some people have treated his father,” hints Thaao. “There’s a lot of screaming, horror and panic that Andre is alive. People want to punch him.”

LANI PRICE

With this lot coming to town, Salem could use more cops patrolling the streets. So we welcome Detective Lani Price (Sal Stowers, who won 2007’s season 9 of America’s Next Top Model, 2003- current) on Tuesday 20 November. Our big scoop? Lani has a biological connection to a certain Salem PD veteran…
