Great huts on fire

Moseki is on the backfoot when his sister Odirile weaves her deadly plan to frame him for murdering their niece.

-

Odirile (Tsholo Matshaba) is forced to think on her feet on Monday 19 November when the police release Goitseone (Mpho Sebeng) and drop the charges for murdering his girlfriend Princess Mosetsana in November. Luckily she has the perfect patsy to point the police towards: her and reigning Queen Mosadi’s troublemaker brother Moseki (Don Mlangeni). “She plants Mosetsana’s phone in his car [on Wednesday 21 November] and when it’s discovered [on Thursday 22 November], he is in the hot seat,” says Don. “Odirile is the only person within their family intelligent and ruthless enough to pull that off.” Not that the police will be taking notice of Moseki’s pleas of innocence.

Who finds the phone? Sephiri (Seipati Motshwane) gets a nudge from Odirile that Moseki might be hiding something. She goes through his belongings and then his car. When she finds the phone, she immediately thinks that she has caught the killer. That’s not all that Sephiri finds, is it? There is a gun… Moseki tries to convince her that he doesn’t know how it got there and that he’s being framed. But things go from tense to insane very quickly. How so? Sephiri holds him at gunpoint that same day [Thursday 22 November]. She tries to force a confession out of him, but when that doesn’t work, she locks him in a hut and sets it alight. He is rescued by a group of people, but in the meantime the cops have arrived and arrest him on the spot. Why does he think that Odirile is behind his framing? Despite what she says, she is gunning for Mosadi’s throne. She is power hungry and she will do anything to reach her goal. How far is she willing to go to make sure that she isn’t blamed for murdering her niece? Moseki is given a drink [Monday 3 December] laced with snake poison. While he barely survives this attempt on his life, he knows he’s in trouble.
