For Diego Klattenhoff, his character Donald Ressler is at the heart of the story on action series The Blacklist (2013- current). “It isn’t just about catching Black List criminals provided to the FBI by criminal-turned-informant Red (James Spader) and FBI Agent Liz (Megan Boone). There is this internal conflict because Ressler has been hunting Red for years and now he’s forced to work with him. That grates him terribly,” says the actor.

1 Working isn’t something Diego is scared of though. He’s been in at least one series and one film every year since becoming an actor in 2001.

2 The 38-year- old considers himself a brilliant actor because he doesn’t like guns despite most of his roles being cops, detectives and even a Marine in Homeland (2011- current). “You point the one end at people and hope you look like you’re aiming,” he adds.

3 He claims that the only thing he misses about his hometown Nova Scotia in Canada is playing ice hockey: “There aren’t many rinks down here in North Carolina where my wife and I live now, but that’s what golf is for.”

4 While he loves bingewatching his own show, Diego’s PVR decoder is filled with sci-fi series like The X Files (1993- current) and he re-watches his 2013 sci-fi film Pacific Rim twice a year – he played soldier-pilot Yancy Becket.

5 He claims that he’d sign on for another five seasons of The Blacklist if he was given the opportunity.

6 And despite his name, Diego has no Latin or Spanish heritage. His dad is German and his mom is Irish.
