Season 1 M-Net (*101) 21:00 Action

Max Irons would rather be shot at as analyst- on-the-run Joe Turner in action series Condor (2018- current) than work with his dad Jeremy Irons (Rodrigo Borgia in period drama The Borgias, 2011-2013). “Have you even met my father? He’s a force of nature. He likes to make his voice heard on set. No, I keep well away from that,” says the 33-year-old, who also wants to avoid claims of nepotism.

“If you do a bad job, people are 1 quick to say, ‘Oh nepotism.’ That is dispiriting. I don’t want a role given to me because of someone else,” says Max. Graduating from London’s Guild2 hall School Of Music & Drama in 2008 was a minor miracle since Max didn’t enjoy school as a dyslexic. He was also kicked out of the Dragon Prep School for having sex on campus. Max took a gap year before enrol3 ling at Guildhall but he didn’t bum around like most other teens. Instead, he taught drama and acting in Nepal. He thought about doing music but 4 a friend told him that he’d rather have his ears glued shut than listen to Max sing. “That hurt, but not as much as 650 people in the audience who pretended to like it,” he says with a laugh. His full name is Maximilian Paul 5 Diarmuid Irons, which he says he has never actually been addressed by. Getting into shape for his role 6 was pretty easy – Max has been free-diving without oxygen tanks for years and gyms four times a week. “I’m also conscious about my diet – I have a fruit or berry-flavoured tea with every meal,” reveals the actor.
