Kagiso is desperate to get even with gangster Diamond for ruining his chances at being a loving husband and father.
If there’s one thing that good- guy Kagiso’s (Loyiso MacDonald) learnt to accept, it’s that falling in love just isn’t meant for him. He’s sulking around the house with a broken heart on Wednesday 5 December after his deceitful ex- girlfriend Kamina (Michelle Mosalakae) left him at the altar in lateNovember at their shot-gun wedding before ironically being shot dead herself. “He is devastated,” says Loyiso. “He’s upset that he didn’t listen when his meddling mother Harriet (Connie Ferguson) warned him not to trust Kamina, who was secretly working with their enemy
Diamond (Zolisa Xaluva) to destroy the Khozas from the inside,” explains the actor. “Kagiso might act all tough but he is a sensitive guy. He is an emotional wreck but he is out to settle scores with Diamond for ruining his life,” adds Loyiso.
What was his reaction when Harriet revealed Kamina’s secret plotting with
Diamond at his wedding? He was equally disappointed as he was ashamed. He’s always wanted to have a family of his own and in a split second, that fell
apart. Kagiso is angered by Kamina’s betrayal and his own naivety. Kagiso discovered that Kamina lied about their son Jean-Pierre’s (Jason Ibiayo) paternity. What was his reaction when the little boy was taken away from him
too? That happened fast. While he was reeling from the revelations of Kamina’s deception, he found out that JP wasn’t his biological son. It was the last positive thing he could hold onto and to have that taken away is hard on Kagiso – he’s left with nothing!
That must affect him deeply? Of course. Kagiso completely withdraws from his family and the world around him. He isn’t bouncing back as he normally would from a traumatic experience, like after his father Mzi ( Treasure Tshabalala) was murdered in 2016. Kagiso uses alcohol as an emotional sedative because he doesn’t know how to cope with losing both Kamina and JP. Does he have a plan to get back on his feet? He wants to kill Diamond with his bare hands. Kagiso believes that getting rid of Diamond will help him sleep better at night. He is driven by anger, which can often lead to self- destruction, but killing Diamond is his mission.
