Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) is Salem’s Necktie Killer. And as Ben creepily comments that he can see the fear in her eyes, Abby might not understand it yet but she is really standing there with two men – the fiancé who loves her and the lunatic who’d kill to keep her. “There are two different Bens. I feel like Benjamin blacks out and wipes people out and does crazy stuff. Then there is Ben, who is the nice guy who takes the hand of the little princess of Salem,” explains Robert. “When I did all my research for the story, my Netflix queue looked like a psychopath’s: tons of murderer Robert Durst and [1960s slasher film] Psycho and every split personality.” But when crazy Benjamin/ Ben knocks Abby out, drags her off to a cabin in the woods and handcuffs her to the bed on Thursday 3 January so that they can be alone, it’s time to fight – for herself and her baby.
THE RIGHT FIGHT
As an unarmed, heavily pregnant woman in the grip of a psycho killer in a remote cabin during a storm, Abby’s greatest weapon will be her mind. “I kept thinking: if there was a bear here with me, what would I do? You try to make yourself small. And then you try to approach them and then you try to step back and it’s really just a dance they do. And every time Ben’s back is turned, Abby is looking for a hole, for some way she can get out,” Kate reveals. So on Tuesday 8 January when Abby fakes being the most understanding woman ever while Ben tells her that he committed murder out of love for her rather than jealousy over her affair with Chad (Billy Flynn), that is Abby fighting. But when the stress of putting up a front in the face of Ben’s wild moodswings puts Abby into premature labour on Monday 14 January, she’ll need more than her wits – she will need a hero.
