Lalage discovers Wendy’s sex secret and sends her packing.
Wendy (Michelle Beling) can’t keep her hands off her brother-in-law Hendrik (Gérard Rudolf) on Wednesday 2 January. “Time stands still when they are together,” says Michelle. “They are so wrapped up in each other that they completely forget about the part of him being married to her sister Lalage (Elma Postma).” For Wendy, sneaking around with Hendrik isn’t just another trashy affair. She has been in love with him since October when he gave her the attention that she’d never received, which is also why she had her makeover, reveals Wendy, to impress Hendrik and make him fall for her by looking more like a lady and less like a tomboy. The thought of what this will cost her doesn’t cross Wendy’s mind. “Even her niece and nephew Anja and Zandre (Lee Visagie and Dèanré Reiners) take second place,” explains the actress. But while the sneaky lovers think that they’re being careful, all it takes is one little slip-up on Friday 4 January…
MOMENT OF TRUTH
We’ve been sworn to secrecy about what Lalage finds on Friday 4 January, but it immediately exposes the affair. “She starts asking Hendrik questions. She’s relentless and pushes him until he finally blurts out the truth.” The reality of her husband sleeping with her sister knocks Lalage off her feet. She’d much rather it be some other floozy, adds Michelle. “But her own sister? Wow! Lalage is devastated and barges in at Wendy’s job to confronts her in front of customers [on Monday 7 January].” And it gets violent, adds Michelle, with Lalage slapping Wendy before storming out. There’s no hiding the fact that Wendy is humiliated, but Michelle says that she knows she has done wrong: “You can’t mess around with someone else’s husband and get away so easily.”
NOT MY SISTER’S KEEPER
Lalage kicks Wendy out of her house on Tuesday 8 January before turning her attention to the man in the middle that same day. “Like Wendy, Lalage will fight for what she has with Hendrik,” explains Michelle. She tells him that she’s willing to forgive him if he ends things with Wendy, but Hendrik for once isn’t certain of where he stands. “He and Wendy have built a strong connection. They have chemistry and it’s difficult for them to pretend like nothing has happened between them,” explains Michelle. Not sure what to do, Hendrik leaves on Tuesday 15 January to clear his mind, with the sisters torn apart and hurting. They both love him dearly, says Michelle, but who will he choose to live with when he returns?
