Love triumphs
Diederik finally finds love – in his housemate Olivia’s arms.
Diederik (Hennie Jacobs) deserves to find happiness. He was so upset after his failed wedding in September 2017 with his ex Amorey (Kristen Raath) that he started using drugs in March 2018. He got his life together in April last year and even found a roommate in August – Olivia (Nadia Herbst). Initially the two didn’t really get along, but in December they admitted their obvious attraction for one another and their relationship was agreed. “He is more reliable and mature than her previous boyfriends,” explains Nadia of what her character likes most about Diedie. “He is a role model for Olivia, gives her advice and keeps her grounded. He has also been through a lot and knows how to keep his head above water. He respects her. Usually she falls for the badboy who ends up breaking her heart, but now she fell for her best friend and she feels like she can just be herself with him.”
TRUE LOVE
They’re in the honeymoon phase and will do anything for each other, even though “Olivia spends too much time in the shower and uses all the hot water,” jokes Hennie. “He finds her heart irresistible. She has a soft heart and she cares. She’ll go out of her way to support the person she loves and will always protects him,” explains Hennie about what Diederik loves about his new girlfriend. Nadia agrees: “She’ll lie for him and will take the blame for anything that he’s done. And she will definitely not let another girl come between them!”
Like every relationship, both characters have bad habits that get on one another’s nerves. Nadia chips in quickly: “Diederik throws his wet towel on the floor and he doesn't like cleaning the kitchen after they’ve eaten.” But Olivia thinks that Diedie is the most handsome guy ever. “She likes an attractive man. Diederik’s look grew on her and now she thinks he is incredible. His work clothes are sexy and he has the most beautiful arms and legs that suit him!”
SURPRISE SURPRISE
The new year brings great joy when the couple decide on Wednesday 2 January to take their relationship to the next level. We’re sworn to secrecy, but watch out for a special event on Thursday 10 January. Diederik is sure that this one will last, adds Hennie: “They've been sharing a house for a while and know each other well. They know what upsets or irritates the other. When there may be a conflict situation, their good communication helps them solve it.” But as we know, few things last forever in the soapie world. A little bird told us there may soon be trouble in Hillside, but if that affects this pair will still be seen…
