Taming the beast
Strong-willed Marang has put her best business foot forward to win over ruthless KK.
Moliehi’s ( Vatiswa Ndara) personal assistant Marang Motsoaledi (Sharon Seno) is tougher than her no-nonsense boss because her confession on Thursday 24 January stuns Moliehi. “She’s been working for Moliehi for many years but is only introduced to viewers now,” explains Sharon. “What she says is like a bombshell, telling Moli and her businessman hubby James (Dingaan Mokebe) that she’s dating their business rival
KK (Macdonald Ndou). “Both of these ladies are feisty and have tough skins, which is why they get along – they’re the same. But Moli didn’t for a second think that her PA would go for someone like KK, not least because he is their enemy.”
How did Marang meet her beau? They’ve seen each other around thanks to their common business. He’s told her about his past abusive behaviour towards women, like his ex- girlfriend Matshidiso (Buhle Samuels). Most women would have put on their running shoes to get away from him, but Marang finds KK’s honesty appealing. She has always been honest about her struggles and his being honest about his past is tick in the man-for-her box.
What struggles has she faced? She’s the only breadwinner for her family back in Mafikeng [in the Northwest Province]. She also helps her younger brother with money for his university fees when she can. Seeing unhappiness on her face [on Monday 21 January], KK finds out that Marang is short of funds this month and he offers to help her with a loan, but she refuses. Why though? She likes him and he likes her and he’s trying to help her? She doesn’t want it as a gift. She wants to earn it. Somewhere down the line, James gives her the money in the form of a loan but that’s going to cause more friction between KK and James – and Marang. What could throw cold water on their relationship? She is a strict Christian and she believes in celibacy. KK is quite the opposite and is quick to jump into bed with women. For now, KK respects her decision and he seems prepared to wait for her. That makes her heart beat faster, but this is KK we’re talking about and promises aren’t always kept.
