JANUARY
Xolile has to be super- discrete as she sneaks around behind Mthunzi’s back, signally her family for help when her husband becomes abusively controlling. Mthunzi wants to believe Xolile’s exciting announcement but he suspects that she’s trying to manipulate him, and Lindiwe confides in auntie Phindile about the risky step she wants to take to make her career dreams come true. And pity poor Sihle (Xolani Xaba) when Gloria becomes a stage mother deluxe!
FEBRUARY
The stars in Lindiwe’s eyes might blind her to the powerful, dangerous men around her who see her as something to exploit, so it’s a good thing that she is taking level-headed Mary along for the ride. When another door shuts in Lindiwe’s face, it looks like a window opens but it could be a trap. Mary is asked on a date but her dream man has a nightmare secret, and Lindiwe is forced to fight dirty to survive. Shannon (Matthew Potter) comes back into Wesley and Ingrid’s lives but he needs help desperately, while Grace, Lerumo and Layla are all looking for love. Grace puts herself in Yvonne’s hands for an exciting makeover, but while her face is tuned, her flirting skills might be rusty and one gentleman at the Newtonian mistakenly believes that her efforts are aimed at him.
MARCH
Yvonne makes mischief in Grace’s new romance, and Mary’s mom Phumla (Nomalanga Nkosi) is devastated over what’s happened to her daughter. Lindiwe might find herself on the street after Mlungisi tells Zinzile what their daughter has been up to, and Mary’s friends fight to save her. Lerumo crosses the line as a cop, Mthunzi is delighted by Xolile’s news when she returns, and Chichi feels as if she has been cornered and led into a trap after she realises that her deal with Romeo has placed her in danger.
Mthunzi is prepared to strike out when he realises who the real thorn in his side has been, and a clever young man is forced to admit that he bungled a blackmail attempt. Ingrid makes a life- changing decision that has everyone in tears, Lindiwe reaches out to help Mary, and Zinzile and Lindiwe bond when Zinzile opens up about the change in her own life that Lindiwe has helped inspire. Mlungisi moans to Ndu about the women in his life, and Quinton offers some sound business advice but a partnership or two invite in serious trouble, doublecrossing and dirty dealing.
