Getting away with murder
JANUARY
Bongi hits her rival David below the belt in their war at Red Records, and Sabelo continues to have trouble with his former prison gang who now want him to help them expand their illegal dealings at club Kilowatt. A jobless Sindiswa is desperate to make money, and Sabelo lies to Suffocate about his whereabouts. Meanwhile, Bongi continues using Bash to get closer to David, and Sabelo’s brother Dumisani is a target for the 68 gang when Sabelo refuses to help them.
FEBRUARY
Bash rushes to save Bongi’s life after an apparent suicide attempt, and popstar Reneilwe tries to cut ties with troubled Sindiswa. The 68s demand that Sabelo rob Kilowatt or they will murder his family members, and Bash is confused when Detective Maponya and Officer Madikgetla declare Bongi’s suicide as a homicide. Ex- convict and Kilowatt owner Suffocate goes to war with the 68s to protect his business, and Bash is the prime suspect in Bongi’s murder case. Mampho is sceptical about dating a newcomer, and Gail gives David an alibi when the police call her to the station for questioning. Mampho is heartbroken when she learns that her new love interest is married and has been stringing her along the whole time. Dumisani betrays his brother Sabelo and joins the 68 gang, and Bash helps the police arrest David for Bongi’s murder. Renei steps in when her father Sello (Francis Rangoajane) reappears and asks her to help him babysit her siblings, and Dumisani spends his first night behind bars.
MARCH
Bash’s friends turn their backs on him in his hour of need, Dumisani promises Sabelo that he will leave the gang, and Reneilwe considers giving up her music career when pressure mounts. Dumisani goes back on his word and returns to the 68s after he learns that Bra Honest (Innocent Masuku) tried to rape his cousin Mapula. Bash takes the fall for Bongi’s murder although he’s innocent, and Sabelo searches for Bra Honest. Lawyer Mzi offers to get Bash’s charges cleared, and Dumisani is rewarded with a chunk of cash for returning to the ranks. Lerato walks in on Mzi digging for information in her office, and Dumisani is caught by the police with a gun. Later, Mapula is devastated when she discovers that Dumi was part of the gang responsible for a neighbour’s murder.
