Oh brother!

Ridge and Thorne throw punches and cushions when a girl re-ignites their brother rivalry.

-

The Forrester boys are back at each other’s throats from Wednesday 23 January when Thorne (Ingo Rademacher) reveals what he has really come back for – and it’s not to sit on the throne as head of the Forrester Creations fashion empire. “He is back to get the woman he has always loved – Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang),” explains Ingo. “He isn’t here just to see his family – Thorne is back to say to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), ‘You had better watch out, I’m coming for you too!’” This is a personal attack for Thorne, who gate- crashed the family’s Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday 1 January and wiped the smile right off Ridge’s face. “They’ve been going back and forth at each other since they were children and there has been an uneasy truce over the years. They have butted heads over fashion and taking over the family business,” adds Ingo. “Women haven’t been the biggest issue – but this is Brooke we’re talking about…”

HIDDEN AGENDA

Thorne has always lived in his older brother Ridge’s shadow. “Thorne is here to prove that he isn’t the meekand-mild younger brother everyone remembers from when he moved to Paris [2016 in SA, when Thorne was still played by Winsor Harmon]. He’s built up confidence being in Paris, achieving his goals and growing as a man. He decided that it’s time to stop running away from his family,” explains Ingo. Ridge realises that all is not as it seems with his brother and confronts him on Wednesday 16 January. During their heated argument, Thorne also demands a seat on the Forrester Creations team. Ridge spent years putting him down at every step and he isn’t done yet, shouting, “Your work is amateu-rish and not up to Forrester standards,” to which Thorne counters, “You’re a bully Ridge. You are used to controlling everyone around you. Well, that’s going to stop. And not just for my sake, but for everyone else’s. You’re done mistreating people, calling me your little brother and especially deceiving Brooke.” That’s when it clicks for Ridge, explains Thorsten: “Thorne is here for more than just taking on his brother. He is here for Brooke!”

THORNY ISSUE

While the pair try to avoid each other at all costs, they also both run to their father Eric (John McCook) for advice on Friday 18 January. “Of course Eric is stuck in the middle,” says John. “He will try make both his sons equals.” Unfortunately Eric’s attempts backfire and Thorne marches into the Forrester mansion on Wednesday 23 January to tell Brooke that Ridge isn’t the one for her. “I’ve been thinking a lot about my life and all the people I’ve lost,” he tells a speechless Brooke. “People I trusted. People I loved. No one more than you. You’re an incredible woman. I was devastated when we broke up [in 2011], but I accepted it and then… I come home to this. You can’t marry my brother. If you’re going marry anyone, you marry me, Brooke. You marry me.” Before Brooke can say anything, Thorne kisses her… as Ridge walks in. “You don’t mess with my wife-to-be,” yells Ridge before aiming a punch at Thorne’s face. “Things go from bad to worse very quickly and the fists are flying and the cushions as well – these two men have cushion fight over Brooke,” laughs Ingo.

CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK

Don’t be fooled into thinking that Thorne is a one-woman guy. By March, he turns his attention to Katie (Heather Tom), who is sleeping with her former step-son Wyatt (Darin Brooks). “They will be bickering at work but there will come a time when Thorne gives up on Brooke. He is exactly like his Casanova brother when it comes to women,” says Ingo with a grin from ear to ear. “That’s about all they have in common.”
