Chris begs Ian to help him with his Jenny problem, but there are strings attached to the deal.
Ruiterbosch builder and all-round handyman Chris du Plooy’s (Marcel van Heerden) recent mid-life crisis led him to cross paths with a prostitute named Jenny (Siobhan Hodgson) but while he thought that he’d got rid of his problem, she’s returned – and she isn’t alone. Chris realises that he’s in trouble and there’s only one person in town with the power to save him: sly Ian (Abduraghmaan Adams).
TRICK OR TREAT
Jenny arrives bruised and battered with her arm in a sling, begging Chris for money so that she can get away from her abusive pimp. “Chris is apprehensive,” explains Marcel. “What if this is a lie and she’s leading him around in circles?” Instead, he suggests that she go to the police and open a case, “But that isn’t an option. That will make more trouble,” adds Marcel. Knowing that someone could spot them and link him to something so scandalous, Chris gives Jenny money and tells her that he never wants to see her in Ruiterbosch again. But while he sighs with relief when she disappears, Chris finds out days later that Jenny is still in town. “It occurs to him that she never planned to leave. She had him wrapped around her finger and used his insecurities to get what she wanted,” adds Marcel.
RAT IN A TRAP
Chris heads to Ian and quietly reveals his problem. Never one to judge, Ian tells his friend that he’s got just the trick for Jenny and her pimp. “They’re going to lay a trap for these criminals,” says Marcel, making sure not to reveal exactly what happens, but it must be pretty serious because Jenny really does disappear after Ian fulfils his promise. But there’s a snag and it’s one that Chris knew was coming. “Ian never does anything for free, there is always a price for his favours and it’s no different with Chris,” says Marcel. Not that Ian wants money – Chris was going to work for Ian as a builder and TV fans will know that the best place to bury secrets is a construction site…
