Remember me

Days tugs at its viewers’ heartstrings as Hope and Lucas remember those they have loved and lost.

-

While Valentine’s Day looms for South African viewers, onscreen Days Of Our Lives is looking back as Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) have their first Christmas after the recent deaths of Hope’s love Bo (Peter Reckell) and Lucas’s son Will (Guy Wilson). The loss will hit home hard as the Horton family hang those personalised name ornaments on their tree, some for people born into the family, others for those they have embraced into it with love – as they’ve been doing since 1971. This year, there are so many baubles for those who’re gone for good or who’ve gone away that it feels like a blue Christmas.

TRADITION

Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), who’s reading to the child patients at University Hospital in true Days tradition, reaches out to give Lucas a shoulder to cry on. And Hope’s father Doug (Bill Hayes) has some words of wisdom for the family: “This year, we need this night more than ever. It has been a bumpy road. We’ve all been hit hard. We know we can’t bring back those we’ve lost. But decorating this tree is our way to celebrate our family. So tonight we stop and we remember who we are, where we came from. We tell all the stories. And it’s important we continue to do this all the days of our lives. Abigail (Kate Mansi), JJ (Casey Moss), you listen to me. When we’re gone, even if you’re not in this house, it is imperative you be the custodians of that tradition.”
