Perdita Weeks can understand being attacked for her role as Juliet Higgins in the reboot Magnum PI (2018- current) but it’s only given her added incentive for her job. “Fans of the original series (1980-1988) were upset that John Hillerman’s character is now a woman. So what? That doesn’t bother me and it really shouldn’t bother them. I am here because the producers believed and believe in me.”

Unlike John, who was from Texas, 1 Perdita didn’t need to fake her British accent; she’s from Wales and says that “work is easier when you don’t need to worry about an accent too”. The 33-year-old can speak Welsh 2 but says that her full name sounds like she’s speaking in tongues: she was born Perdita Rose Annunziata Weeks. She got into acting with her less3 famous siblings, younger brother Rollo and older sister Honeysuckle, in TV commercials for McVities Biscuits. Perdita isn’t a fan of gym because 4 at 1.6m tall she says that “I’m too small to work on the machines. Instead, I prefer yoga twice a week like Higgins and a bit of cardio here and there”. Before getting into showbiz, she 5 wanted to work in a museum and studied Art History at London’s famed Courtauld Institute Of Art. Acting isn’t always as pleasurable 6 as Magnum (they film in Hawaii) and she discovered that she’s claustrophibic while filming 2014 horror movie As Above, So Below in the catacombs beneath the streets of Paris. She hates her nickname Pork. Her 7 sister gave it to her after finding a baby pic and claiming she was “the fattest baby ever in the world”.
