Lock up those lips!
Mondli’s mouth is going to land him in hot water when he kisses Zekhethelo.
With her salon job falling apart at the end of March, Lilly (Noxolo Mathula) the vixen was soon on the prowl for a new meal ticket. And her cop boyfriend Captain Mondli (Thembinkosi Thwala) – a man whose idea of romance was fake arresting her in front of her whole family – wouldn’t cut it. She wanted sexy new doctor Sibonelo (Wiseman Mncube), so by early April, Mondli and Lilly were over. But in the second week of April, we’d really like to slap a pair of cuffs on recently dumped Mondli. It’s not a crime, but kissing his subordinate Zekhethelo (Nyalleng Thibedi) is more than bad office manners.
A SLIP, A KISS
Thembinkosi explains that Mondli and Zekhethelo’s kiss arises out of a mix of strategy and bad judgement. Up until this point, Mondli has wanted to get close to Zekhethelo so he can control her to get close to her suspected crime boss father Nkunzi (Masoja Msiza). And things have gotten a bit, well, flirty. “It’s part of his plan, but there are some feelings that have been developing,” Thembinkosi admits. And then he slips under pressure. “There is too much work for him and he hasn’t solved so many cases. There’s pressure on him from the commissioner. He has to answer questions about why he isn’t solving cases. The kiss is unplanned. They end up kissing in the office when they are talking. I think he wanted to de-stress by kissing her,” he admits.
NON-REGULATION NECKING
Thembinkosi can only shake his head at Mondli’s blunder. “When Lilly wanted to work at the police station, he told her she couldn’t because police regulations and conditions don’t allow couples to work together. He is breaking the regulations. As Thembinkosi, I think that’s not good. Bringing your feelings and love issues into the workplace will mess with the work. If you fight or break up, it won’t be the same. There will be that shyness.” Worse yet, they’ll both be toast if the station’s hilariously petty Constable Nyawo (Cebo Mthembu) catches wind of what they’ve been up to. “If Nyawo finds out, he is going to make some trouble because Nyawo is too jealous. He is going to tell the whole station. And he is not going to treat Mondli the same way, as his superior,” warns Thembinkosi. And he will find out… once Lilly catches them. Oh, so Mondli wouldn’t give her a job “because of regs” but now he will kiss Zekhethelo? Lilly could spit!
