A wolf in sheep’s clothing
Pastor Makoro goes to war with Khulekani after his evil plans to take over Diepkloof are discovered by the businessman.
Those who’ve met celebrity priest Pastor Makoro (Kabelo Moalusi) describe him as an upright citizen, an entrepreneur who’s dedicated his life to uplifting his community. But behind his sermons and motivational testimonies lies a shrewd man. “He is plotting to steal from the people of Diepkloof and because he has deceived his congregation for years, he believes that he can get away with misleading them again,” says Kabelo.
Pastor Makoro recently announced that he is designing a world-class transport hub to benefit residents. But that is half the story. “He is actually looking to grow his empire. Makoro plans on buying the land from residents, then demolishing their houses to build his new mega-church… right next to his own shopping complex,” adds Kabelo. While the priest has managed to sway the media to his side, his rival Khulekani (Mncedisi
Shabangu) is digging into his project and he plans on exposing Pastor Makoro.
POWER COUPLE GOALS
Usually, Makoro shares his schemes with his protégée Deaconess Sonto (Limakatso Mokhiti). But after going public recently with his relationship with music executive Pearl (Petronella Tshuma), Makoro is now confiding in his girlfriend, but not without hesitation. “He is scared that Pearl might look at him differently or dump him straight away,” explains Kabelo.
However, Pearl, being a boardroom baddie herself, understands that to get ahead, often one must ruffle some feathers – or rob from the innocent. “Pearl always thought that she wasn’t good enough for Makoro because she has a shady past. But learning that he isn’t perfect evens them out. Like her beau, she believes that together, they can take over the world,” says Kabelo. But before the pair can rule Diepkloof, they must get ahead of their enemies.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED
Unlike the rest of the community, Khulekani doesn’t trust Pastor Makoro. “He stalks the priest and in his pursuit for the truth, Khulekani discovers Pastor Makoro’s wicked plans,” says Kabelo. Khulekani schedules a meeting and plans to confront Makoro, but being the smooth criminal that he is, the pastor makes Khulekani an offer for his allegiance. “While the money for his silence is tempting, Khulekani rejects it. Khulekani is Diepkloof born and bred, and while he’s as ruthless as Makoro, he isn’t a sell-out,” adds the actor. To protect his community, Khulekani plots to put a stop to Pastor Makoro’s transport hub – Diepkloof isn’t big enough for the two men to exist side by side.
