Live in the moment
Stream live content on Showmax – this very second!
The word “streaming” used to mean that you got to watch your favourite boxsets as and when you wanted… because the entire season was already available to click and binge on. But that’s changed thanks to local content platform Showmax, because right now, this very second, the streaming service has live content waiting for you to watch.
Until 31 March this year, you can live stream DStv channels Mzansi Magic (*161) and kykNET (*144) – and you don’t need a DStv subscription. It’s so simple – log into your Showmax account (or create one if you’re not a subscriber yet), click “Home” and scroll down to “Live Channels”. Click and you’re watching your favourite Mzansi and kykNET shows as they’re airing on DStv. And there’s no restriction to the two channels: you have access 24 hours a day until the end of March to stream everything from soapies like Isibaya (2013-now) and The Queen (2016now, see p35), to reality and lifestyle series like Groen: Namibië (2015-now), Mooimaak Met Clare Wiese-Wentzel (2017-now) and Boer Soek ’n Vrou (2008-now). All it takes is a click…
SO MUCH MORE
Right now it’s just Mzansi Magic and kykNET from DStv’s bouquets that are available on Showmax, but who knows what the future holds and whether they will be able to bring more live channels to the platform. But there is good news if you’re more of a news hound than a regular binge-watcher – the streaming platform has multiple news channels that are permanently live on showmax.com.
SABC News, Newzroom Afrika, EuroNews and AfricaNews are all running 24/7 on Showmax, bringing you up-to-the minute factual information and news straight to your TV, laptop, mobile device – wherever you are, Showmax and its live content is just a finger-tap away.
If you’re looking for a little more hip in your viewing hop, Showmax has you covered here too. The Trace Urban and Trace Gospel channels are available to stream live, with music that will have you bopping your head and swagging with your bling and rope chain on Urban, to raising your hands and voices to the heavens as you praise the higher power in your life on Gospel. Either way, you will be adding a whole lot of music to your streaming on Showmax.
GOAL, GOAL, GOAL
See that little “Sport” button right at the top of the Showmax menu? Yip – the streaming platform has loads of live sport for you to watch too. And it changes on a weekly basis, from international and local soccer (it doesn’t matter whether you want La Liga from Spain, Premier League and FA Cup drama from England, or goals galore from the local DStv Premiership), to eSport, athletics and more. It’s easy, really – click “Sport”, select your sporting code if it’s available on the dropdown menu, and click on the event to watch. The best part about streaming live sport is that you can add upcoming events to your Watch List and Showmax will automatically start streaming when the game starts.
