Temper trouble

Imraan’s bad attitude is so bad that his father is called in to sort out the young man.

-

The tension in Imraan’s (Marlo Minnaar) new marriage has been bubbling for months and he takes things too far when his wife Kaashifa (Jawaahier Petersen) fears for her safety. And it’s going to get worse before it gets better, says Marlo, whose character is protective of his wife. But sometimes the protective instinct turns into jealousy and leads to violence, like when Imraan punches Earl (Ayden Croy, Archie in the drama series, Melody 2020-now) the director of Kaashifa’s new online cooking show. “Imraan walks into Oos-Wes restaurant just as Earl is attaching a microphone to Kaashifa’s jacket and Imraan jumps to the wrong conclusion,” says Marlo.

“Kaashifa is shocked by her husband’s behavior,” said Jawaahier. “She has been walking on eggshells around Imraan for a while, and now she has had enough. He went too far.” Imraan tries to say sorry, but Kaashifa admits that she’s afraid of him and decides to stay with family friends the Samsodiens for a few days.

FATHER-SON STRIFE

Ruiterbosch pharmacist and community elder AB Samsodien (Cedwyn Joel)’s heart bleeds for Kaashifa and he decides to get in contact with Imraan’s father Reza (Andre Samuels, Peter in drama series Sara Se Geheim, 2016-now). “Imraan is furious when his father arrives in Ruiterbosch and orders him to take the day off from work so they can talk to the Imam,” says Marlo. It’s an insult and their rift widens when Imraan absurdly becomes jealous when he sees Reza talking to his daughter-inlaw Kaashifa.

ROOT OF ALL EVIL

Reza tries to force Imraan and Kaashi to go with him to his house in Beaufort West in the Cape so that they can work on Imraan’s mood, but Imraan refuses completely. Marlo explains that there’s more to not wanting to go with Reza than meets the eye, because Imraan was abused by Reza as a child. “Reza is a strict man, and he has a certain way of doing things. With Imraan, the apple may not fall far from the tree…”

While staying at home and away from his dad Reza is good for Imraan, it’s going to worsen life for Kaashifa. More so after Imraan blames her for losing his tablet computer. “He loses his temper completely over her carelessness,” adds Marlo, whose character goes on a tirade that is so bad it will see Kaashifa asks him to leave their house. Is this the end of Imraan and Kaashifa?
