Magnum P.I.
Season 1 e.tv (194*) Fridays at 20:30 Action
Reboot series Magnum P.I. (2018-now) shares a name and characters with the action show from 1980 to 1988, but it is its own show. Besides lead character Magnum (Jay Hernandez, Diablo in superhero film Suicide Squad, 2016) not having a moustache like the original Magnum (Tom Selleck, Frank Reagan in police series Blue Bloods, 2010-now), they genderswapped landlord Higgins (played by John Hillerman, Lloyd Hogan in sitcom The Hogan Family, 1986-1991) by casting Perdita Weeks (Catriona Hartdegen in horror series Penny Dreadful, 2014-2016). “It ruffled feathers but three seasons in and the gossip-mongers have stopped,” says the confident Welsh actress.
1 Like her character, the 35-year-old actress loves flexibility exercise yoga. “We film on location in Hawaii. Wherever Higgins does yoga, that’s my spot for the week too,” says Perdita. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, 2 the actress used to travel around the world to at least two new countries every year, saying that “forget cars and handbags – travel is my splurge”. So far she’s been to 60 countries, including a holiday to the Kruger National Park. She hates her nickname and even 3 though she’s no longer a chubby baby, Perdita says that her actress older sister Honeysuckle (Agatha Christie in a 2019 episode of period drama The Frankie Drake Mysteries, 2017-now) “still calls me
Pork because she’s a mean old bully”.
