Hotel spy kid Tebello on the case!
Tebello goes undercover at the Newtonian and things at the hotel get weird.
The Newtonian is no stranger to secrets, scandals and lies, and the month of May is no different. We have seen sly hotel manager Timothy (Charlie Bouguenon, Ryan in The Estate, see p30) housing his ex-girlfriend Efua (Jessey Matlou) at the hotel and, recently, Gloria (Marjorie Langa) kicked off her own little dodgy scam renting out rooms behind management’s back. Unlike Timothy though, Gloria’s secret scheme won’t remain hidden for much longer.
YOUNG THUG
Following reports and strange happenings within the Newtonian corridors (mostly linked to Gloria’s self-hosted
Air BnB), Timothy gets someone on the inside to do some clever spying for him. And while there are many shadowy figures eager to do the dirty work, Timothy turns to the sweetest, most loved character to snoop – dearest little Tebello (Litlhonolofatso Litlhakanyane). “He wants Tebello to uncover secrets of what’s really going on when he’s not there,” explains Litlhonolofatso. It’s probably not the greatest idea due to the dangers involved, but Litlhonolofatso explains that his friendship and sense of loyalty blinds his character to the possible consequences.
What exactly Timothy hopes to find isn’t clear, but Tebello will have to be clever about making his way through the hotel unnoticed, taking note of any odd events or individuals and reporting back. “It’s all about being sneaky and discreet,” Litlhonolofatso says. Asked whether Tebello is at all nervous, the young actor says absolutely not since his character is “a brave boy”.
HAUNTED HOTEL
As expected with a young and naïve spy, Tebello doesn’t go unnoticed for too long. A few days into his spying stint, hotel worker Rorisang (Rebecca Mfoti) starts seeing strange occurrences herself – one incident with Tebello leads her to believe that the hotel is haunted! “Tebello bumps into something accidentally when he tries to hide from her in the hotel and, because she didn’t expect anyone to be around, she’s convinced it’s the work of a ghost,” reveals Litlhonolofatso.
Apart from the unintended ghost scare, Tebello’s stakeout isn’t giving Timothy much to get excited about.
But things get messy about a week into Tebello’s surveillance operation when, unbeknown to the youngster, he stumbles across intel that will most definitely send Timothy reeling and it involves a chilling scream in a hotel room…

19 – 21 MAY
A celebration is ruined by a shocking revelation, and Mlungisi throws his morals out the window. Mr Mamba takes drastic steps to save himself, and the Ngemas are convinced that a mistake has been made. Rorisang’s behaviour becomes hot gossip, Nhlamulo is confronted about his controversial plan, and Timothy catches a group of employees misbehaving.
24 – 28 MAY
Mlungisi does the unthinkable to save his family, and Poloko seeks answers. Timothy makes it his mission to help someone, Mlungisi makes a nasty discovery, and Mamba makes a big decision. Gloria and Timothy try to manage the chaos, Zinzile learns that nothing remains hidden forever, and Duma’s luck runs out. Timothy embraces the truth, and Mlungisi feels like a defeated man. Tebello is ready to make a comeback, and Seipati spoils herself.
31 MAY – 1 JUNE
New information could ruin a family, Boniswa tells a few lies to get ahead in the game, and Seipati crosses swords with an angry mom.
