Becoming Mrs Jones

Repeat Season 1 Vuzu (*116) 21:00 Reality

-

It’s been four years since TV personality Minnie Dlamini tied the knot with her TV producer husband Quinton Jones in their wedding reality series Becoming Mrs Jones (2017). With Vuzu (*116) airing reruns of the three-part special, we caught up with Minnie to look back on the moments leading up to the big day, like when she met with her wedding planner to add final touches, or when she travelled with her bridesmaids for an over-the-top bridal shower in Paris. The highlight though, is the star-studded vineyard wedding in Cape Town.

“The response to my engagement [in 2016] was incredibly overwhelming. I knew that people were interested in watching my romantic journey, and I didn’t want anyone else running with my story. It was important that I controlled my own narrative in a creative way,” explains Minnie, who also serves as an executive producer on the show. “I must admit, I had far more fun producing the show than planning my wedding,” says the 30-year-old Minnie with a laugh. “One of the reasons that I put the show together is simply because representation matters! It’s important to see black love. We don’t see enough of it [on TV]. Even when you search ‘people in love’ online, the results are very limited in comparison. We deserve to have our own fairytales and I wanted to be a part of that change.”

Minnie and Quinton welcomed their son Netha Makhosini in November last year and she reveals that life is blissful. “The best part is playing house with my best friend,” adds Minnie. “My hubby and I are having a blast. We appreciate even the stressful days of parenthood. Our son is a little rock star.”
