Haunted romance

Lindelani and Mbali rekindle their romance only for Mbali’s dead husband Sibusiso to come back from the grave to taunt them.

-

While surgical intern and widow Mbali (Nelisiwe Sibiya) is expected by her in-laws to stay home, dressed in all-black – signifying that she’s mourning – following her husband Sibusiso Dlamini’s (Ntando Mncube) recent murder, she goes against the rules and paints the town red with her ex-boyfriend Lindelani (Mike Dlangamandla).

The truth is, Mbali was never rein love with Sibusiso. She felt obligated to tie the knot with him in April this year because the Dlaminis took her in and put her through med school after her mother’s off-screen death years before. But now she can rekindle her romance with the man who’s always had her heart: Lindelani. “Mbali and Lindelani pick up where they left off months ago. They’re in seventh heaven and can’t keep their hands off each other,” explains Mike. However, the couple’s love bubble bursts when strange events start occurring and they’re convinced Sibusiso’s ghost is haunting them.

IT’S TOO SOON

It doesn’t take long until

Mbali’s mom-in-law Agatha (Phumelephi Mthombeni) suspects the fling. In all fairness, Mbali isn’t exactly trying to hide the romance. She’s unusually giddy, distant and she’s constantly caught lying about her whereabouts.

Agatha goes digging, and her suspicions are confirmed when she finds evidence that Mbali and Lindelani are dating. Agatha storms into Durban Gen and confronts the couple. “She tells them that Sibusiso’s corpse isn’t cold yet and Mbali is already seeing another man? Agatha is furious and disappointed,” says Mike. Her disapproval isn’t enough to separate the couple, but when Lindelani encounters Sibusiso’s ghost, he considers dumping Mbali…

BACK FROM THE GRAVE

Lindelani is certain that his head isn’t playing tricks on him. “He repeatedly sees Sibusiso’s ghost all around,” says Mike. Lindelani later collapses after seeing the supposed ghost again at his office. Lindelani is rushed into a ward, but the doctors reveal that there’s nothing wrong with him and they send him home. “Lindelani thinks that all these unfortunate events are a sign that his relationship with Mbali is cursed. He suggests that they arrange a cleansing ceremony to dispel the ghost. However, the ritual leads to another sequence of bad luck,” reveals the actor. If things don’t change for the better, Lindelani might just end his romance with Mbali – and for good this time.
