Cursed love

Is murdered Hulisani haunting his single wife Rendani?

-

There’s no one who’s as unlucky in love as Rendani (Innocentia Manchidi). She’s had her share of unsavoury men in her life and even her husband Hulisani (Burnett Gededger), who was murdered in a fight at the start of the year, had drinking and gambling problems. Huli stole money from Rendani, sold her wedding ring and conned her mother to feed his addiction. So the relief she had when she recently found “The One” in Tshireletso (Nay Maps) was immense. But oh, was Rendani wrong about him!

FAMILY OF LIARS

“Rendani was very much in love with Hulisani, he was everything that she had ever wanted in a man (aside from his problems). So when she met Tshireletso, she saw traces of Huli in him and that’s how she fell in love with him,” says Inno. “He was so understanding, he felt familiar, and she thought that God had finally sent her The One.”

What Rendani never expected was for Tshireletso to steal her laptop and banking details to steal money – and not just from her, but also her company MMC. “Rendani is shocked and hurt when she finds out what Tshireletso has been up to,” explains Inno. “Nothing is making sense to her anymore. She feels like a fool for not seeing the signs that he was too good to be true.”

The search for Tshireletso – who fled after realising that he was about to be caught – is vital for Rendani because she’s being accused of fraud. But her hunt for the thief turns into a nightmare when she finds him because Tshireletso takes her hostage… and then makes a shocking confession: Hulisani was his cousin and Tshireletso is taking back the money that Rendani got from her husband’s estate.

“Rendani is mad at the whole situation. She fought so hard to get closure and move on from Huli and everything that happened. She planned marriage and kids with Tshireletso. ‘Why did she let her guard down?’ is what she is asking herself,” says Inno. “Rendani has never stopped blaming Huli for the bad things in her life like being in debt. Even when he’s dead, he’s hurting her.”

TIED DOWN

Rendani’s escape attempts lead to Tshireletso tying her up and gagging her. When she’s calmed, Tshireletso orders Rendani to phone her mom and tell her that she’s out of town for a few days. Tshireletso has no intentions of letting Rendani go though. “He’s planning to poison her and end her life the way his cousin’s life ended,” explains Inno. It’s going to be a race against time as Rendani hopes the police are already trying to find her…
