Getting the boot
House Of Zwide’s promising fashion intern Nambitha is fired for leaking information to Funani’s enemy Jacob.
Not all interns at fashion empire House Of Zwide have access to their boss Funani’s (Vusi Kunene) office – let alone speak to him on a personal basis. It’s only the ones who prove that they’re hardworking who are invited into his space and mindset.
Having recently won a challenge in which the interns were tasked with designing a show-stopping dress for superstar Kelly Khumalo, Nambitha (Sikelelwa Vuyelani) is awarded with a week’s opportunity to shadow her hero, Funani, this fortnight. “Nambitha is delighted. She admires Funani and she can’t wait to learn from the fashion designer extraordinaire,” explains Sikelelwa, whose character’s time as Funani’s protégé is short-lived when she’s exposed for her secret connection to his rival Jacob De Villiers (Noah Cohen).
BONDING WITH THE BOSS
In Funani’s office, Nambitha overhears a confidential phone call between the fashion mogul and a business associate revealing that Funani plans to blindside Jacob by getting out of his manufacturing contract after a disagreement with Jacob. Instead of keeping quiet, Nambitha meets with Jacob to tell him about Funani’s scheming.
“I can’t get into the specifics regarding Nambitha and Jacob’s relationship, but what I can disclose is that there is history between them,” divulges Sikelelwa. Nambitha instructs Jacob to keep the information to himself, but the next morning he barges into House Of Zwide and confronts Funani about trying to end their contract. Chaos ensues. “After an extensive back and forth between Funani and Jacob, the latter leaves the office fuming. And it’s in that moment that Funani realises Nambitha has betrayed him, since she was the only other person in the office during his private chat. Funani is livid.”
“YOU’RE FIRED!”
If there’s one thing Funani can’t stand, it’s disloyalty. As the story unravels, the other interns come forward and allege that Nambitha is dating Jacob as “they’ve seen them cosy. One intern even claims that Jacob is Nambitha’s sugar daddy. But it’s all a lie,” explains Sikelelwa. Convinced that Nambitha is an insider, hired by Jacob, Funani fires her. “Nambitha doesn’t even get a chance to explain herself. She’s thrown out of House Of Zwide,” says the actress, revealing that “this isn’t the last you’ve seen of Nambitha. She’ll return to House Of Zwide to clear her name and clarify her involvement with Jacob.”

The battle lines were drawn between the House Of Zwide interns when they competed to create a dress for local celeb Kelly Khumalo, Lazarus was oblivious to J’adore’s lies, and Molefe rescued Nomsa from an embarrassing ordeal.

Pearl’s suspicions about J’adore fall onto deaf ears, and Nambitha’s confession regarding her connection to the De Villers family destroys her intern job at House Of Zwide. Nomsa and Molefe rush to stop a friend’s wedding from turning into a disaster, and Zanele pushes her parents Funani and Faith further apart when she tries to bring them together. Lazarus shows J’adore the door after realising that he’s been scammed, and Nomsa receives great reviews about the dresses that she designed for the wedding. A surprising business partnership is struck after hairstylist Rea steps in to save Funani’s photoshoot from catastrophe, and
Bra Carter ups the ante when he demands more favours from Nomsa but she refuses.
Isaac questions his wife Rea’s loyalty when she insists on working with his rival Funani, and Nomsa stands up to controlling Bra Carter before pulling out of their agreement to save her own reputation. Funani makes Rea a tempting offer that results in Isaac reaching his breaking point, and Nambitha struggles to come to terms with her new reality after she’s fired from House Of Zwide. Molefe turns to gambling to raise money to open a shisanyama business, and Isaac can’t stand the thought of Rea and Funani working together, so he pins them against each other. Just like Isaac, Faith resorts to extreme measures to separate Funani and Rea, and Molefe hits a dead-end while chasing his dreams.
