License To Kill

-

Season 1 CBS Justice (*170) 20:00 Doccie

The men and women who work in the medical profession are some of the most important and trusted people in our society, but on crime series License To Kill, viewers take a horrifying trip down a path where doctors, nurses and other medics purposely put lives in danger. Told from the perspective of the victims, family and colleagues, each episode takes us into the thinking and thought processes that go through these doctors’ minds as they willingly and knowingly harm patients.

Helping us understand is plastic surgeon Dr Terry Dubrow from reality shows Botched. With his more than 20 years of practising in the medical field, Terry uses his medical expertise to take viewers into the minds of each perpetrator while investigating their reasoning to commit crime. “What never ceases to amaze me is how long a physician can get away with things before they’re discovered. 99% of medical providers, doctors and nurses are well-trained and care very much about why they went into that field. I want viewers to learn that these stories do happen in the real world,” says Terry.

The answer as to why so many doctors and medical professionals end up as murdering monsters isn’t all that easy to explain, reveals Dr Terry. “It’s difficult because everyone is different. Some do it for money, some do it for ego-boosting and being in control. It’s not something nice to think about at all, that the person trained to help save and treat patients is also proficient in killing the human body.” And despite having seen countless cases of medical malpractice – especially on Botched, where he repairs physical messes made by bad docs – he’s still surprised by the scale. “It’s terrifying. I’m stunned with each case as I see it,” says the doc.
