Tanya, I’m not sure I understand your comment completely, unless you mean you want the channel to be part of the DStv offering – and I doubt that will happen. eReality is one of e.tv’s unique selling points to get OpenView, so I don’t think that they would share it with DStv, because it is direct competition.

Anonymous, we hear you. Endless repeats are never fun. Usually when programmes are bought to be broadcast here, the channel have to agree to broadcast the show a set number of times. So, often the repeats ensure that we get to see the show to begin with – if the channel doesn’t agree to the repeats, they can’t buy the show.

Hi Ria. Yes, I know ads can be annoying. I often fast-forward through them when I’ve recorded a show. But, ads are extremely necessary in the business. They help to pay to get programmes on air. Platforms like DStv has a lot of expenses, and advertisements help cover the costs. Also, I have to admit I’ve seen things in ads that I didn’t know were on sale or an option to buy. So, they do fulfil an informative function as well. Hopefully next time when you see an advertisement, you will think of it as a money-saver – at least I do when it gets on my nerves and I just want to see the next bit of the show.

Hi Regular Laan Viewer, isn’t it nice to not like the villains in a soap? How boring would it be if we liked them all! By the way, the actress who plays Mariaan, Deirdre Wolhuter, is a fabulous person. And very petite. You won’t believe it when you see her in real life. Check out our 7de Laan story on p29.
