A father’s love

They say a mother’s love knows no bounds, but in this instance, it’s a father who tears down all barriers to save his only son.

-

When KK (MacDonald Ndou) found out he had a grown son he didn’t know about, he showed a side of himself no one knew existed: caring, affectionate, supportive. Not the evil and manipulative KK we all knew. But when Kgosi (Tebatso Mashishi) recently disappointed KK by handing him over to the police, believing that he killed someone, it seemed the father and son relationship was done for good. But blood is thicker than water…

DADDY DEAREST

This issue, Kgosi is kidnapped, and KK drops everything, including his new life preaching the word of God, to save his son. But before he crosses back to the dark side, he says a prayer for his son to be returned safely – and then he hires men to find Kgosi. “KK deeply loves his son, but the challenge now is that their relationship is on a rocky edge because of how they ended things. KK doesn’t know exactly where to start looking for Kgosi,” explains MacDonald.

MOVING MOUNTAINS

In Johannesburg, the heroic father leaves no stone unturned to find Kgosi. And it seems like his prayer has been answered when he hits a stroke of luck and finds out where Kgosi is being held captive and he instructs his goons to rescue him. “Yes, KK is a changed man, but he still has contacts in the underworld. KK never used to do his dirty work himself; he always hired people to do it for him,” explains the actor.

But KK gets the shock of his life when his henchmen come back without Kgosi, because they are afraid of his kidnapper, a notorious gangster. And for the first time, KK will have to get his own hands dirty…

ONE PILL, ONE LIFE

KK gears up and goes straight into the lion’s den to face his son’s kidnappers. He arrives just as Kgosi is about to be given a pill that will kill him. Then KK surprises even his son when he negotiates with the kidnappers that he take the pill instead of Kgosi. “KK has done bad things in his life. His son still has a future ahead of him. KK would rather die so that he can give his son a future,” explains MacDonald. And after a teary goodbye, KK takes the pill!

Kgosi manages to attack the kidnappers and escape, and rushes his father to the hospital where he is given a bad prognosis of his dad’s situation. Did KK just sacrifice his own life for his son’s?
