George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations
Season 1 BBC Lifestyle (*174) 22:00 Reality
Homes are sanctuaries; a place to retreat to after work or when you want to get away from the world. It’s comfort personified, and to every person, theirs is special. But if you like a really unique space, renovation reality show George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations is the perfect inspo, as architect George Clarke introduces viewers to people who take obscure and unused buildings and transform them into incredible and enviable houses. It will even make you wonder if you could turn the old corner shop down the road that’s for sale into a luxurious living space.
“It really sounds like a wild idea – taking places that were once functional parts of society and turning them into homes, but it’s well thought-through,” says George. Thanks to more relaxed planning regulations in the UK, homeowners are now taking calculated risks and going all in on discarded properties. And George is there every step of the way, letting viewers see how his team manages to turn an old bank into a classy apartment, a horse stable into a modern family home, or a police station into a contemporary living complex.
“The renovations take months to plan out and complete, but the end results are stunning,” says George, who personally oversees every detail.
“It all boils down to having an eye for detail and passion for architecture,” adds George. “There was nothing else I ever wanted to do. When most of the kids were playing with building blocks and pieces of LEGO, I was actually on building sites learning about construction and engineering and architecture.” NB!
