MYSTERY MAN

-

There’s a lot of mystery around Lelethu. What can you tell us about him? I can’t really give away too much… but I can tell you that he’s a bit of a quirky character, a bit off-centre. He’s the kind of guy who walks into a room full of gangsters and just straight up shoots the first question that comes to mind. He’s a bit of a go-getter, a very risky character.

Lelethu loves his job and has had some success – he wrote a best-selling book, and he feels like now he has to find the next best thing in his career. Something also happened to a family member when he was much younger and that really drove him towards wanting to almost fix society. I would say he’s a bit of an idealist – he has this idea of how society should be, that if he exposes enough of the bad things, he will actually do some good.

You mentioned gangsters – tell us more! Part of his backstory is that he went in and he went undercover with a gang and he became a gang member. This led to him writing his book and exposing the gang. Who knows what kind of things he had to do while he was a gang member to earn their trust and not expose himself…

Could we see Lelethu’s gang links come back to haunt him? I really hope so! More often than not, the backstory of a character is never really explored onscreen. I think that for Lelethu in particular, it would show more of who he used to be and why he ended up coming here. I hope he gets in a position where he gets to face his past, because he’s desperately running away from something.
