Ghostforce

Season 1 Disney Channel (*303) 15:15 Animation

-

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if the team from the supernatural movie Ghostbusters joined forces with the guys from action movie Power Rangers, ask no more as new animated series Ghostforce makes that a reality.

Set in a fictional version of New

York, junior high students Liv (voiced by Cassandra Lee Morris), Mike (voiced by Ogie Banks) and Andy (voiced by Jordan Quisno) navigate their school life while also try-ing to save the city from being overrun by creepy ghouls. Fighting ghosts isn’t that simple though, so with help from their tech guru Miss Jones

(Tara Sands), they use special powered suits, each with their own unique abilities, to solve their city’s paranormal problems.

It’s a fresh take on a kids’ show that introduces bits of science and comedy to a young audience, while the art style that draws heavily from Japanese anime should attract kids of an older age as well. “It’s one of the best looking shows I’ve seen in ages,” says Cassandra, who has been working as a voice artist for almost 30 years. “I’ve seen shows with great potential but none match this. Just the storylines are better than you’d expect to find in a children’s show.”

Because it’s a kiddies show, ghosts and goblins get a not-too-scary look and feel. The first episode’s villain, a banana ice cream ghost, brings a cute scariness that will have you thinking twice about chomping on a banana split ice cream. Creator Jeremy Zag says that it was a calculated choice to be “cute scary” because Disney is the ideal home for Ghostforce to be enjoyed by boys and girls. “We want our shows to be all-inclusive and to attract viewers from all genders and ages.”
