Turfloop residents had better keep their eyes on up-and-coming business mogul Alfios (Tebogo Modisane)! The newbie entrepreneur is ready to take on the fat cats in town – that’s if Alfios can keep his mouth shut. Tebogo is the first to admit that his character still has a lot to learn when it come to the inner workings of business agreements – especially lucrative tenders. Having just gotten into a very dodgy agreement with Alfred (Putla Sahlapelo) to grab the Turf University canteen tender, he has a lot to lose. Now, Alfios has his eye on a juicy Maphosa Nuts factory deal but, as Tebogo says, “How far will all of this go without his tender secret coming out?”
If Alfios sticks to his usual ways, he’ll most likely do all the damage himself. “Alfios tends to speak before he thinks. That’s exactly one of the reasons that he will find himself in a mess and, on top of that, he doesn’t do well under pressure.” Despite a tumultuous start to the year, Tebogo is hopeful that his character will eventually find some peace. “Alfios really just wants a stress-free life. He wants to provide for his family and he wants to get out of boiling pot that this tender deal got him into. I hope he’s able to build an unstoppable confidence in himself that no one can shake and that he realises who he really is – that he stops being afraid of the world.”
As Alfios struggles to find his way in the business gauntlet, he will also have a hard time figuring out who to trust. But we suspect Alfios is a fast learner and, before his enemies know it, he’ll be walking all over them with a smile. NB! Read more on p12.
