Wedding woes
It’s the day Ayanda and Detective Pele have been dreaming of – but will they actually get to say their I dos?
It’s easily one of the more surprising relationships of the past year – good cop Detective Pele (Andile Nebulane) and chronic snitch Ayanda (Samela Tyelbooi). Ayanda has been in relationships and situations that are far from legally sound, and Pele put her babydaddy Gadaffi (Vuyo Dabula) behind bars. So when the pair hooked up and made their relationship official in February last year, Generations fans were somewhat surprised…
DADDY ISSUES
Now, less than a year later, they’re ready to exchange vows and Samela says that “they’re nervous but excited”. But the run-up to the wedding – which was organised in less than a month – will prove to be stressful as both family and sinister elements threaten their big day.
First, there’s the not-so-small matter of her estranged father Mandla (Momelezi Ntshaba) being in town. “Their relationship is strained to say the least,” explains Samela. “He left when she was very young and started a new life away from them. But now he’s here and suddenly wants a relationship with her.” Naturally, the bride-to-be is on edge, questioning her father’s true intentions and battling to work through feelings of resentment and distrust.
IN THE CROSSHAIRS
Thankfully, Fikile (Refilwe Madumo) is handling the big day, proudly declaring that “I can plan a wedding in my sleep!” This takes a lot of weight off Ayanda’s shoulders. But apart from picking flowers and her dad’s constant presence, there’s another threat. The actress wouldn’t give us any details on what exactly these threats entail, but from what we can gauge there’ll be a life-threatening incident hours before Ayanda walks down the aisle! On the eve of the wedding, a hitman sneaks into a blissfully unaware Ayanda’s hotel suite. “She doesn’t know it then, but she is in serious danger,” is all that Samela is willing to divulge.
I DO?
The hitman fails, but that doesn’t mean the drama is over. A guest will storm out of the church after getting an alarming phonecall, a groom with blood on his hands and Mandla’s true intentions will come to light in startling fashion. So do Ayanda and Pele end up getting hitched? Samela is extremely vague, saying simply that “Ayanda’s dad being in town has made things complicated. But Pele is determined and wants to marry the love of his life, whatever that means for Mandla.” It could be a wedding few will forget – for all the wrong reasons…
