Nyaniso Dzedze’s latest character Dr Dhlomo falls for pregnant Sne and the pair are off to a messy fling…
Just when the nurses were about to give up on finding love at Durban Gen hospital, their prayers are answered. They’re introduced to new Head Of Surgery Doctor Sipho Dhlomo (Nyaniso Dzedze), who’s an eligible bachelor in every sense, says the actor. “Dhlomo is a vibrant, articulate and charming hotshot surgeon who graduated top of his class. He was a resident at Durban Gen years before and he later moved to the US to work at a prestigious hospital,” adds Nyaniso. While Dhlomo claims that he’s back in South Africa to provide his expertise, there’s more to the story that viewers will uncover as the year progresses. For now though, he is looking for love… THE CHASE Within days of meeting Dhlomo, his female colleagues vie for his heart.
They flirt with him and offer to help him settle into his office, but he sets his sights on none other than nurse Sne (Nombulelo Mhlongo). It’s too bad that Sne gives him the cold shoulder as she’s hiding the fact that she’s pregnant with their colleague Lindelani’s (Mike Ndlangamandla) baby. Without question, Dhlomo is Sne’s type, but her ego is still bruised after Lindelani rejected her and their unborn baby. So she is trying to protect herself from further heartache and Dhlomo isn’t making it any easier with his advances and the fact that he’s easy on the eye..
“Dhlomo is drawn to Sne’s reserved nature. Unlike the other women who try too hard to capture his attention, she doesn’t give him the time of day, which intrigues him. Sne keeping her distance from Dhlomo makes him want her even more,” explains Nyaniso, whose character goes above and beyond to win over Sne. “Dhlomo is the type of man who has worked hard for everything that he has accomplished. He takes Sne’s reluctance to go on a date with him as a challenge that he should conquer.” DELAYED NOT DENIED? It isn’t long until Dhlomo works his magic on Sne, and she agrees to go on a date with him. But minutes before their proposed luncheon, she gets cold feet and keeps Dhlomo waiting. “Sure, he’s annoyed and somewhat offended that he’s been stood up. But it doesn’t change the way he feels about Sne,” says Nyaniso. And while Sne eventually arrives at the restaurant, she’s uncertain about proceeding with their date. “Dhlomo talks Sne into sharing a meal with him but how far can their romance go when it’s already complicated before they even start dating?” Until Sne tells Dhlomo the truth, the pair are destined for dating disaster.

Agatha is convinced that a hospital patient is a witch, Calvin desperately seeks a cure for Lindiwe’s mysterious condition, and Agatha apologises for spreading rumours about a rival. Thandekile saves a colleague from embarrassment, Agatha is attacked by an angry mob, and Mbali and Lindelani keep their romance hidden from their loved ones. Calvin is caught in a moral predicament, and Sne swears off men after Lindelani once again rejects her and their unborn baby. Unwilling to live with the pain, Lindiwe begs Calvin to switch off her life-support machines, Sne shows a co-worker tough love, and Calvin eventually gives into Lindiwe’s demands and turns off the medical equipment keeping her alive.
A patient attacks a doctor following a botched surgical procedure, Sne gives Lindelani the silent treatment, and Calvin struggles to cope with grief of his actions. The healthcare workers welcome the hospital’s new head of surgery Doctor Dhlomo, Calvin breaks down after reading Lindiwe’s letter, and Mbali is willing to divorce Thabo to start a life with Lindelani. The nurses fight for Doctor Dhlomo’s attention, a troublemaker patient keeps the medical interns on their toes, and Doctor Dhlomo is interested in Sne but she doesn’t give him the time of day. Nangamso’s patient meanwhile refuses to take her advice.
