Just because people are in their golden age doesn’t make them less interesting to watch on reality TV. And the senior guests on spin-off show Little Big Shots: Forever Young are testament to that. Hosted by comedian Steve Harvey, elderly guests with vibrant personalities and extraordinary talents showcase their gifts in front of a live audience, followed by a hilarious one-on-one conversation with Steve on stage. The acts range from singers and magicians, to death-defying stunt performers. “The acts aren’t afraid to live out their dreams and share their hidden skills with the world,” says Steve.
The seniors’ ages don’t slow them down either. “If the seniors that come on the show were feeble, this show wouldn’t be as exciting as it is. They put on a show, and they’ll amaze you with their capabilities. We have a 91year-old gymnast who’s tumbling and flipping across the stage – and they’re in form too. It’s amazing to watch,” explains Steve. who’s also the host of original reality show Little Big Shots that features kids with impressive skills. “The thing with the kids is that I try to pull stuff out of them. With the seniors, I don’t even have to try hard, they carry out the conversation. That’s the thing with old people, they don’t hold back,” explains the 65-year-old host.
THE YOUNG AT HEART
What is most interesting about the Little Big Shots: Forever Young is the interaction between Steve and his guests. They chat like they’ve been friends for years. There’s banter and Steve also takes part in their performances. When the guests need a dancing partner, Steve takes off his jacket and twirls along. “These incredibly vigorous and energetic seniors give Steve a run for his money with their irresistible charm and they’re share their wit and wisdom with the audience,” explains Paul Telegdy, head of the show’s parent network NBC/Universal.
Steve can’t get enough of the seniors too. “They inspire me to continue to live out my dream. I’m 60-something and some of the guests are much fitter and sharper than I am. I was shocked when
