A tear-filled lovers’ tiff
Rumours of another woman warming her bed reaches Meikie, but Melita will go to any length to clear her name.
It is no secret that John (Africa Tsoai) has a wondering eye. He’s pursued his colleague Charity (Makgofe Moagi) and convinced himself that he’s love with her. He’s also fathered a child with MaNtuli (Dieketseng Mnisi), his wife Meikie’s (Harriet Manamela) neighbour and best friend. And he’s on another love mission now that his wife is behind bars for trying to murder MaNtuli and Kwaito (Clement Maosa), the child John fathered. But John’s tryst with Melita
(Hellen Motsuki) is heading for drama.
A BIT TOO AMBITIOUS?
John has been awfully lonely ever since his wife was arrested in December last year, so it comes as no surprise that he’s found a way to deal with his new norm: Cuddling up to Melita instead of sleeping in a lonely bed. “Melita is only too happy to be in John’s arms. She envisions a better life for herself and John could be her ticket to that life,” explains Hellen. John is a representation of the man Melita wants: A successful job, a family and an amazing house.
“It helps that John is a man with the finer things in life. But Melita has always admired him. She would always talk about how lucky Meikie was to have such a wonderful man. So you could say that her feelings might actually be genuine,” explains Hellen.
DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE
But no affair stays secret for long and with Turfloop’s gossip mongers at work news soon reaches Meikie in prison. And we all know that Meikie doesn’t joke around when it comes to her husband. “Meikie is certainly very protective over John. It’s the very reason she is where she is right now,” says Hellen, adding that her character “is well aware of how dangerous Meikie can be. But at the same time, she’s in prison, so Melita hopes that it will stay that way.” What Melita doesn’t realise is that Meikie has connections and they’re keeping tabs on Melita and John’s not-so-secret fling.
WIPING AWAY THE SINS
When Melita gets a warning that her love rival knows about her and John, she quickly changes her tune. “She decides to come clean to the community about her relationship because if someone else does it first, her reputation in the community will be ruined and she could lose her job,” explains Hellen. While you’ll have to tune in to see what she does, it may not be enough to appease Meikie the would-be murderer…

Lehasa is shocked when he sees the State’s witness list, Eunice doesn’t want to be helped with regards to Fanie’s crypto file, and Melita is fired from Maputla supermarket thanks to decisions that she’s made. A secret love affair is exposed in front of some of Turfloop’s biggest gossipmongers, Melita and Meikie meet, and Eunice finds herself in an embarrassing situation in front of her ex-lover.
A nosy journalist will stop at nothing to get to the truth, and Kgosi returns but Lehasa and Khwezi are one step ahead of Detective Petersen. News of Melita and John’s affair reaches the ears of a certain inmate, Meikie is dumbfounded when John drops a bombshell during his visit, and Melita is adamant about sharing her side of the story with her enemy, even if it means doing it on social media. Khwezi has a solution for all of Lehasa’s problems but he’s unsure if it’s the right move, and Eunice’s mountain of debt continues to pile up.
