Runaway groom?

Judy’s dream wedding turns into a nightmare when her husband-to-be Musa doesn’t pitch up.

-

J ust when Risinga Village’s new mayor Judy (Mamarumo Marokane) thought that her luck was turning around for the better, she faces public humiliation. It all begins when Judy’s childhood friend and widower Musa (Wiseman Zitha) tells her that he has feelings for her, which is music to Judy’s ears. “She’s always had a crush on Musa and Judy’s recent campaign brought the pair closer. She’s glad he reciprocates her feelings,” explains Mamarumo, whose character is caught offguard when Musa makes a suggestion.

He wants to skip the dating stage of their relationship and get married right away. “Without giving the proposal much thought, Judy agrees. They think that they’re soulmates. So what’s the point in waiting when they start their lives together?” adds Mamarumo. Judy shouldn’t get too excited though, as there’s a surprise waiting for her on the day of their ceremony. WHAT’S THE RUSH? Because Judy and Musa’s wedding is rushed, they opt for an intimate gathering that includes immediate family and a few friends. “To onlookers, Judy and Musa’s decision to fast-track their wedding is alarming but the couple believe that they’ve found something special in each other – and they’re holding onto it,” explains Mamarumo.

That something special is support. After Judy’s grandmother and mom’s recent deaths off-screen, Musa and his family supported her through the loss. Same goes for when Musa struggled with grief in February this year following his wife’s murder in late 2021 – Judy was by his side, helping him process his emotions. “Judy and Musa have built a great foundation and they think they’re ready to tie the knot,” says Mamarumo. Within days, it’s wedding time. “Judy is also carrying Musa’s toddler son Tiyani (Fanele Mashimbye). She hasn’t been this happy in a while,” says Mamarumo, but that joy turns into disappointment when Musa is nowhere to be found and his phone is off. “Judy jumps to conclusions. She fears that Musa changed his mind and no longer wants to marry her,” explains Mamarumo. Musa eventually returns home with an excuse about where he was (watch for yourself!) but Judy thinks that he’s lying. “She’s the laughing stock of the community and she’s not ready to forgive him just yet,” explains the actress. Even if they try to get married again, we’ve been told that someone is waiting in the shadows…
