KwaMashu top cop Lilly is involved in a shoot-out and she’s left fighting for her life…
Being a police officer is one of the things that has truly grounded Lilly (Noxolo Mathula) but she’s had her share of danger while chasing KwaMashu’s baddest criminals. And it almost comes to an end when she’s shot multiple times during a routine traffic stop. “She’s never confronted the possibility of losing her life at the hands of the very criminals she’s trying to protect the community from,” says Noxolo, who adds that her character’s family have suffered a lot of misfortune of late. “Her cousin Nonka (Thuthuka Mthembu) landed up in hospital after being shot. Nonka’s brother Njeza (Nkanyiso Makhanya) went to prison for assaulting his girlfriend. And now this (shooting),” laments Noxolo.
CRITICAL CONDITION
Everyone around Lilly is doing all they can to make sure that she makes a full recovery. KwaMashu police captain Mondli (Thembinkosi Thwala) is personally heading up the hunt for Lilly’s shooter. Prayer meetings are being held. “Even Mr Mbatha (Thabo Mgnuni), Lilly’s ex-stepdad, gets involved,” says Noxolo, “but as expected, he tries to make Lilly’s shooting all about him.”
Lilly needs all the protection she can get while recovering, as the hijacker she tried to arrest wants her dead. “She is badly wounded and her life is definitely in danger,” explains the actress, hinting that something dramatic is going to happen when knight-in-shining-armour Mondli swoops in. Lilly was about to make a major breakthrough into a hijacking syndicate in KwaMashu and there are a few more puzzle pieces she needs to fit.
