What’s in the box?

A box in Vanessa’s garden is about to shake Hillside.

-

It’s no secret how much little Karmen (Gabriella Linton) loves gardening. While out in her mom Vanessa’s (Ingrid Paulus) garden planting things with her nanny Nadine (Mmapule Tsholo), the pair discover a chest box that’s about to stir up a hornet’s nest for a few Hillsiders!

“Karmen’s first instinct was that her father Xander Meintjies (Theodore Jantjies) might’ve left her another flower,” says Ingrid, referring to Xander giving Karmen a flower before his death in early 2020 – not to mention that Karmen still thinks her dad is alive…

“Nadine’s loyalty to Vanessa and the family is to first show Vanessa the box before they open it,” Ingrid explains. “Besides, even if they wanted to open the box, it was solidly closed.”

WHAT’S INSIDE?

“I won’t tell you much, but it’s definitely something valuable that would interest the likes of DeWet (Dirk Stolz),” Ingrid teases. When Karmen and Nadine finally take the box to Vanessa and her friend Denzil (Jacques de Silva), the two are shocked by what they find inside. And although we can’t reveal what it is that they find, it’s not only them who’ll be affected. There are Hillsiders who’ll be shocked!

“Here are the three reasons why they are shocked,” Jacques shares a sneak peek. “One: The engraved name on it. Two: Who the box is linked to. And three: What’s in the box and what it’s worth if it turns out they’re right about their speculations.”

FAR-REACHING EFFECTS

Although this mystery box was found in Vanessa’s little garden by her young daughter, it is going to mean so much to not only her and her family, but a few unsuspecting residents in the leafy suburb too. “Vanessa is very careful and hesitant about the whole discovery. As for the other Hillsiders, very few know about this box. The less they know, the better actually, and the safer it is for everyone,” warns Ingrid. Sounds scary!

DEALING WITH THE BOX

Vanessa and Denzil will be reaching out to DeWet for further help with what’s inside and he can help with possibly investigating it, says Jacques. “DeWet definitely has more knowledge about the contents and he’ll be able to connect them with the right channels and contacts to help.”

We may not reveal too much about this mystery box and what’s inside, but here’s what Ingrid is willing to share: “It was hidden by someone dear to Vanessa who wanted to protect their family against all costs.” What a good mystery!

Vanessa reprimanded Bonita for keeping secrets from her husband, Mariaan desperately reached out to a prisoner for help, and Zee realised that there’s something brewing between Shady and Uys. Denzil meanwhile was making progress and thanked Vanessa for her intervention.
