Wrapped in deceit

Khwezikazi has been nothing but a mystery since arriving in Turfloop and whipping Lehasa out of his mind.

-

Khwezikazi (Samukele Mkhize) has managed to make Lehasa (Cedric Fourie) spill the beans on some of his darkest secrets, like killing Fanie (Gift Mokhampanyane) in August last year, without revealing her own. That makes us wonder if she’s truly in love with the man or just using Lehasa. “They’re engaged and are planning a wedding. And through all of Lehasa’s secrets and lies, Khwezi has been at his side. That says something,” adds Samu.

But it’s clear that Khwezi is doing everything in her power to make sure that Lehasa doesn’t find out the person she truly is like when she recently lied about going to New York on a work trip. Samukele adds that “Khwezi will camouflage a lot of the things that she doesn’t want anyone to know.”

A FEMALE VERSION OF LEHASA

Lehasa has had his fair share of love and betrayal – like when he dated Lelo (Amanda DuPont) in 2019 and found out that her spice deal would poison the community. We’ve seen him totally surrender to love like in 2021 at the hands of Pretty

(Lerato Marabe) who had his heart. But with Khwezi, he has revealed a layer of himself that surprises even him. “You could say that Lehasa has met his match. But also in a sense that she tries to push him to be a stronger man, even more ruthless maybe,” says Samukele. But even with her love and support, there are doubts. “She prefers for her secrets to stay that: Secret! But with a fiancé like Lehasa, it’s extremely difficult to keep it that way,” says Samukele.

FAMILY VALUES

Khwezi has told Lehasa’s family that she isn’t sure where her parents are, which is a lie, and she’s dismayed that Lehasa insists on finding them. “He learns that Khwezi’s mother passed away, which she claims she didn’t know,” explains the actress. That’s not something that slips under the radar, and Khwezi’s shady behaviour makes us think that she could be on a secret mission to help Detective Peterson (Mortimer Williams) uncover some of the truths that Lehasa will not admit to.

Samukele says Khwezi keeps pushing Lehasa to tell her more of his past, even though she doesn’t reveal hers. “Isn’t that how the mind works? Tell me your secrets but I can’t necessarily tell you mine, type thing.” The actress though is staying tight-lipped on her character’s true intentions with her beloved fiancé.
